Wally's Farm

Posted by Cornelia on 10/02/2002 10:57:12 AM

Here’s a description from the Hop Festival information:

Experience hop picking before mechanisation on Wally's Farm: hop picking by hand in a real hop garden, the old kiln, an exhibition of hop tools brings the past to life again; local ale and pork broiled on the spit for lunch help to digest the confrontations with "humulus lupulus".

We didn’t go for lunch or wander about– really just sat outside at a table enjoying a Hommelbier. There was a man wandering about in peasant clothing playing the accordion and a couple of folks sitting and hand-picking hop cones off bines. I snapped a shot of the entrance with the Elvis Presley Boulevard road sign. Wally is obviously an Elvis fan. There was even a big Elvis related event in August. It seemed pretty kitschy.
