Although modern, the Atomium in Brussels is quite an impressive structure that probably rivals the Statue of Liberty in architecture, if not in symbolism. It was built as part of the World's Fair in the early 1950s, I believe. And I've heard there is now a decent beer named in its honor (if anyone can actually confirm that it is a good beer.) There were also some beautiful buildings on the grounds of the royal residence (can't remember the actual name). Our bus toured through the grounds, which included some impressive gardens and Japanese-inspired architecture in addition to the standard neo-classical stuff.
