Dave

Great to hear you're thinking of coming over. I would definitely recommend going solo, as its very easy to travel in Belgium. However I think Joelle went on a Global Beer Network (?) trip (JD - help!) a few years back that was pretty good.

There's no best season, though you may wish to avoid Brugge between April and September, when it can get very busy. Weather wise, however, it doesn't make a great deal of difference - some of our best Belgium trips have been in deepest winter with temperatures way below zero all week. Others have had temps in the mid 90s and baking heat. Both are fab.

For a first timer I would recommend hitting Brugge, Antwerp, Gent and Brussels - or any two of those four. They will give you a great feel for Flanders and its beer culture. You can then go for something more specialised and off the beaten track next time. All of those cities have great beer cafes, and all have breweries either in town or nearby. If I had to pick just one of those four, I would suggest Antwerp. Go there, head for the Kulminator, the Oud Arsenaal, Paters Vaetje and the Frituur on Hoogtraat, and you'll think you've died and gone to heaven.

The only Guide you need is the Webb Guide.

Have fun and be sure to let us know when you're heading over.

Cheers,

Jeremy
