Re: Response to musings - Oops

Well, as Americans, we are obsessed with TV in general, and with sports on TV specifically. Many bar patrons go to the bar specifically to watch sports & the beer is just incidental. Music is expected by others, so that just adds to the din. FR has plenty to attract patrons without the TVs, but since their location is in prime sports territory and has to compete with other actual "sports bars", I don't think they could just get rid of the TVs. I find them fairly innocuous compared to other places. There are plenty of bars in Denver that have no TVs, but they tend to be of the Martini bar or wine bar varieties. The best beer bar with good ambience is My Brother's Bar, which has no TVs and only plays classical music. If fate ever brings you back to Denver, you can try this plae to see that overstimulation is not always the desired setting.
