Yes, coming this direction from the US that's my approach too - just stay up and rough it out. Worked a treat last time coming back from NYC & we actually stayed up till after midnight on the first night back. Slept very well and were totally back in the UK time zone on the next morning.

BTW, great write up Rich - thanks. Very very scary plane ride, very glad I've never had one like that...
