I think it depends on the time of day that you leave, and where it is that you are leaving from. For us here in San Diego, we usually have to switch planes in D.C., Atlanta, Cicago, or some other major eastern hub. The entire trip takes about 15 hours. If we leave here at 9 AM, we get to Western Europ at 9 AM local time, but our bodies tell us it is midnight. So, in this case, a nap is very welcomed, rather than waiting until the evning to go to sleep at the normal time, which would have us awake for more than 30 hours.

Another time we flew to Scotland and arrived at about 4:30 PM. We were in a daze, but made it through dinner and to bed fairly early. The next day we were fine. However, this meant leaving San Diego at 4:30 Pm the previous day, and flying through the night and most of the next day.

We actually like arriving in the morning better. Of course, to each his own.

Either way, coming home is much easier. Breakfast in Brussels, dinner in San Diego.

Rich
