Re: What a great weekend: ZBF and Grote Dorst

Although I didn't make it to the Grote Dorst or Zythos fests, it was great to see a few Babblers in the Kulminator on Thursday night, including Jeremy and Theresa, Steve H, Fred Waltmann, Jan and John White, who I met for the first time, and can safely say does not talk in as much detail as he posts !!! (;-P)

I just want to alert those who get to the Kulminator on a fairly regular basis to and outstanding beer on the beer list ... the 1985 version of Hoegaarden Grand Cru. This is before Interbrew got hold of it, and is a million miles away from the stuff they churn out under than name now. It has aged REALLY well ... full bodied taste, just starting to edge into those madeira notes that older beers tend to develop. And a much darker, almost amber colour compared to the hazy blond of todays brew. And at only 5 Euros, a real bargain !!!

Just one other question : I notice that nobody has mentioned the excellent bar Tropical in St. Niklaas. Did nobody attending the Zythos Fest take the time to find this great little cafe ??

Cheers !! Mark.
