Re: Chicago...

Delilah's (2771 N Lincoln) also has a good selection of Belgian beers and Sheffields, just north of Belmont on Sheffield does too. And when you get bored of shopping at Sam's (yeah, right!) get in the car and make the long drive to Armanetti's in Mundelein. It's about 45 minutes north. You will be amazed. It makes Sam's look like a White Hen! Some of the prices at Armanetti's are extravagant while others are quite reasonable.

For a good selection of American micro's I can recommend the Clark Street Ale House near Clark and Chicago. Sometimes the crowd can be too much but at other time it can be quite comfortable.

One place I never checked out on the South Side is Puffer's around 35th & Halsted. Good location if you are a Sox fan. Rumor is they they were the first bar in Chicago to have a Belgian beer on draft. I cannot verify that! My first memory of such would have been Maredsous 8 at the Hopleaf in 1996 (I think).
