Great things happening at Erasmus, Brugge

I’ve been going to Erasmus in Brugge for nearly 10 years now, but over the past few years, interesting things have been happening. The interesting thing is this: every time I go, the standards just get better and better.
Now, some things never change: Tom’s incredible passion for beer; the excellent range of draught beers, the wide ranging bottled beer list, and we all know about the cooking. But it’s the cooking that is particularly going from strength to strength, and I have to say that the quality of the food is now absolutely superb.
T and I rolled into town just after 9pm last Friday, and within 40 minutes we’d checked in to our hotel and were en route to Erasmus. Just in time for last orders before masterchef Patrick finished his night’s work, T had the pork in a mustardy sauce, which she thoroughly enjoyed, and I had the turkey breast in St Feuillien with plums in the sauce, plus potato croquettes. Now, I don’t even like plums, but this sauce worked 100% and was absolutely superb. The whole meal was wonderful, and I now think that the prices – slightly higher than average, perhaps – are looking more of a bargain every day, given the quality of the cooking.
I commend the superb food that Patrick is serving up and urge anyone visiting Brugge to dine in the extremely comfortable surroundings at Erasmus.
Tom was also telling me about the new room on the second floor of the hotel which overlooks the canal – the second such room in the hotel - and about his new online booking system, which you can find on the website, here:
A wonderful place for food, beer and sleeping, I hope that Tom has many more successful years in this charming place. Congratulations Tom on your first 30 years!!
