Some very sad news from England
Posted by Tim Webb on 07/03/2007 02:32:20 PM
I am very sorry to have to break this news to those who knew John White or had travelled with him through Belgium, the ether, or the world of beer but the massively enthusiastic founder of White Beer Travels and its burgeoning website, executive member of the British Guild of Beer Writers and unstoppable seeker after excellence, died suddenly yesterday.

For those of us who knew him this has come as a terrible shock. John was enjoying retirement from the oil industry hugely and was still motoring with lots of plans and good ideas.

He was, to use his own much-loved phrase, a world classic. I will miss him greatly, as will all of us I imagine who he ever corrected, questioned, campaigned at or encouraged.

Our thoughts and sympathy are with his wife, Joyce, and his family.
