Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

I just really like the work levifunk is doing!

Would anyone like to request a swap?
I could participate in one that deals with sour ales (I have a Flander's style red) or barley wine. But then I don't actually have to have a beer in to plan the thing. Anyone have a beer they would love to contribute to a swap? Steve

Re: Would anyone like to request a swap?
I've got 2 different brett beers; I'll do some sampling this weekend to see if my plambic or berliner weisse is ready yet...I'd be in on funky/sour beers...

Or how about barrel aged beers? I've got several oaked and bourbon barrel type experiments going...

Re: Would anyone like to request a swap?
I haven't actually used a barrel - just oak chips & bourbon barrel char (see the barrel thread for more info).

My homebrew club had an opportunity to get a free bourbon barrel from a brewpub, but we couldn't get enough members to commit to participating to do it (55 gallons is a lot of beer!)...

The bourbon barrel char does a very nice job - I think the charcoal is key to smoothing beers out nicely, in addition to bourbon/oak flavors imparted.

I'll send you one of my bourbon beers in the next swap if you're interested (regardless of the swap style).

Re: Would anyone like to request a swap?
Maybe that's it Chet, maybe the next swap should be beer made using some kind of wood product. Would you be in?

Re: Would anyone like to request a swap?
I've got several beers that would fit - Bourbon Barrel Baltic porter (one version w/Brett, the other w/o), bourbon barrel IIPA, and oaked IIPA.

I'm in!

Re: Would anyone like to request a swap?
Hi, I have enough homebrew aging that I can participate in just about any style. Count me in, mike

Re: Would anyone like to request a swap?
OK Chet, looks like your suggestion has become reality. 4 is, IMO, the minimum number of participants for a swap ... and we now have 4. I'll leave the message up for another week or two to see if we can gather up a fifth, but the wood aged swap is officially on ...

Re: Would anyone like to request a swap?
Excellent - I'm going to the Festival of Barrel Aged beers in Chicago next weekend; it'll be an excellent warmup!

Re: Would anyone like to request a swap?
Not in the office today so I can't update the box on top of the thread page. But we have a 5th! Bill Solomon (he sat with us at the SoB dinner last January) from CT also has a wood-aged Flanders red. So there it is, we have 5. I will get the whole swap thing moving tomorrow...

...get psyched! This is a great theme for a swap!
