Dry Candi Sugar Swap?
After having a great learning experience from the Candi Syrup swap, I was wondering if anyone was interested doing the same thing but with the new "dry" candi sugar. I already have some of this sugar on hand and will be brewing a strong dark next weekend with it (hopefully). So is anyone else up for it?

Re: Dry Candi Sugar Swap?
Great idea Tremens,

I know that N8 is brewing up a Duvel clone with that sugar too. I have been thinking about it. I'd be interested!

Cheers,

Sean

Re: Dry Candi Sugar Swap?
I'll be using the blonde sugar. Seeing that it's a Duvel thing.. Putting dark sugar in it would be like adding pear extract. Might be good, but it's just not Duvel. ;)

Of course I'd be up for a swap.

Re: Dry Candi Sugar Swap?
So I've used the dark syrup, and I know the B3 has the brown dry stuff. Where can I find the blond stuff the N8 mentioned?

Re: Dry Candi Sugar Swap?
For the moment, only the brown is being sold on the B3.

As to a swap, I will be happy to supply anyone involved with sugar, brown or blond. Just let me know how much you need.

Re: Dry Candi Sugar Swap?
I've tasted the blond (so to speak) over at Steve's.

It reminds me of the Palm sugar or "jaggery" sugar. But the dark seems very similar to the syrup.

I'm ordering the dark, maybe a christmas ale for that.

Drinking a Caulier Bon Secours brune, 8% right now. Man, they must use the syrup/soft candy sugar (awsome flavor).

Re: Dry Candi Sugar Swap?
I have a high gravity trappist thing that used the dark moist candy sugar, it should be in bottles very soon. I could be in.

Re: Dry Candi Sugar Swap?
Brian,

Do you know the gravity contribution of the light and dark dry sugars?

Thanks!

Pat

Re: Dry Candi Sugar Swap?
Here is the info that N8 sent me:

Blonde Candy Sugar; 1.038 pppg

Dark Candy Sugar; 1.032 pppg

I have yet to send these sugars out to the lab, so info from the swap will help.

Brian
