Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

I just really like the work levifunk is doing!

YOUR BBB USERNAME AND PASSWORD WILL NOT WORK ON THIS BOARD! If you want to post, you need to read this.

Barley wine swap
Alternatively, who would like to see this happen? We could do both barley wine and high gravity trappist, lets see who salutes.

Got a barley wine? Want to sample it along with other homebrewers efforts? Now's the time to speak up!!

Re: Barley wine swap
Excellent, that hits the minimum number - the event is on! I'm going to give it another week to see if there are more than 4 of us, but I guess the very beginning of next month I can start planning this with you guys. Excellent, a favorite swap topic of mine.

Re: Barley wine swap
Excellent, I'm one of those weirdos that prefers English style bw. I have two, one is a bazaar barley wine experiment and the other is a very solid english style. Up to 6 then, this is going great - thanks Mark! Out of curiousity are you a MarkM I would know?

Re: Barley wine swap
Yep, we've shared a moldy bottle of beer over suckling pig one fine evening. I lost the link to your site when I lost a hard drive and forgot about it as I was rebuilding my favorites list. Then the yeast paste out the airlock reminded me there was a place to go with questions about belgian yesties.

I've been checking in a little more regularly of late.

Re: Barley wine swap
I love it! This will be the first swap then that involves someone from my old virtual stomping ground. I hope you're enjoyoing the resource Mark, you were part of the crew who inspired me to want to make this place.

With 6 people we will either all ship to eah other and do it in two sessions or we'll break up shipping so everyone sends to and recieves from just 3 others. I'd then work out the order so nobody has a gap during the tasting of more than one beer. We'll decide as a group which way we want to go. Either way though Mark, I'll cook the books so we get to trade.

FYI to any reading this thread, I'll need to close the swap out at 8 people or by next Monday (which ever comes first). Thats a lotta barley wine! If you are interested don't be bashful, Monday I will try to contact everyone and start the planning process...

Re: Barley wine swap
If there is still room, count me in steve. The only BW I have is just 9 mos old at 12.5% so perhaps not quite in its prime but worth a sample i think.

Wow, 7 for a BW swap - this will be one for the books! Thanks everyone, swaps are always cool but when they are pretty big they are all the more fun. Ha, all the more fun AND its barley wine!! To you two new guys, you are in for quite a treat.

Re: Barley wine swap
All of mine are in the mail - I've also recieved Steves, Jims and Mike's. Haven't been home to check the mail today so others may have arrived.

It's all I can do to NOT drink them now.

FWIW, the shop I'm managing is set to open next week - I'll post the beer list I'm starting with.

cheers, david (scamborn)

Re: Barley wine swap
Well OK, second to last brew came today - thanks Scamborn! That leaves Sebastians which I know is currently en route via FedEx. Cool, it seems when we pick the 3 or 4 we'll do next Tuesday we can do so from a complete set. IMO here is what we should do...

Tuesday pop Scamborns, Mike Hahns, Sebastians and my UK style one. These are the oldest, all bottled between '01 and '03. Except mine, I threw mine in cause its a 7ozer. That would leave JimK, Mark, N8 and my weird BW for a follow up session.

Re: Barley wine swap
That sounds fine to me.

I believe I've got all the beers now. I'll have to look to be sure.
