Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

culturing from current rodenbach
has anyone tried culturing from the current Rodenbach beer?

it appears not bottle conditioned but some funk may be in suspension.

has anyone looked for funk in it from a cell pt of view?

That would really surprise me. When Palm reworked the beer it was described as "cleaning it up". Leaving yeast in suspension would suggest they were less than successful. I think you'd be better off seeing what you can get out of the dregs from LaFolie. Supposed to be the old Rbach yeast, but not so clean!

Re: culturing from current rodenbach
laFolie is a bit tough to come by in my neck of the woods atleast in the bottle. The Toronado has it fairly regularly on draft.

I just checked my bottle of Rodenbach@home during lunch and it appears to have some yeast sediment. Funk - I don't know?

Hi, the Roselare yeast strain is a good alternative source. It has some funk and makes a good Flanders Red or Oud Bruin. I like it. mike
