Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

BABBLE Brew Off 2007
BABBLE and Flatlander's Restaurant and Brewey are proud to present the BABBLE Brew Off 2007. The Brew Off once again is a stop on the Midwest Home Brewer of the Year circuit. We are also having an entrant appreciation drawing. Every entry qualifies you in the drawing, so the more you enter the better your chances at winning!

Judging will take place Saturday February 24th at 9:00 am. Currently we are searching for judges ans stewards. Interested parties should contact the Brew Off staff at: Babble_Brewoff@comcast.net

1st entry is $7, with each additional entry being $5. Rules and entry forms are available on the BABBLE website "www.babblehomebrewers.com"

Entries are accepted February 1st through the 15th. See the rules for drop off and shipping locations.

To all who participate good luck and thanks!

Cheers,

Dan Morey

I'm sending some in, and will be in Chicago that weekend - how late do you typically go? It would be fun to stop in (after the meetings I'm having through mid afternoon)...

Re: BABBLE Brew Off 2007
Judging is usually completed by 5:00 pm. After BOS judging the the group and overall winners are announced and presented their ribbons.

Feel free to come visit, collect your ribbons, and enjoy some pints and conversation! A lot of the competition staff tends to stick around and unwind after the competition.

Cheers,

Dan

Re: BABBLE Brew Off 2007
I think I have 2, possibly 3, entries. No show stoppers but none are embarrassing. I had big hopes for my Baltic porter, but the keg had issues. It had lost pressure so I CO2ed it up. An hour later I went downstairs and found a few bottles-worth on the floor! Leaked out the beer out coupling. Damn. So I bottled on the spot, despite the very light carbonation.

I'll be in Chicago for a few days in April, maybe one of the Chicago babble guys will have time for one at the Map Room?

Re: BABBLE Brew Off 2007
Dan, one more question. The weather out here has been awesome, single digit cold. I'm worried about shipping under conditions where beer could freeze solid. But it looks like things are slowly starting to warm, picking up nearly 15 degrees as the week goes on. That still puts it in the 20s, but it is getting better. How hard and fast is the 15th? If later next week starts averaging in the 30s then shipping would be no problem, but that gets real close to your deadline. I get that shipping late out of laziness is not cool, but this may be out of necessity.

Re: BABBLE Brew Off 2007
Steve, I recommend you email the organizer Bruce Dir at:

babble_brewoff@comcast.net

I know that we want to get everything checked in by the 17th so we can set the flights and make preliminary judging assignments. Perhaps if you ship to his address, he will accpet late entries.

Re: BABBLE Brew Off 2007
Got 2 going in, I had hoped to also enter my baltic, but the carbonation is just too low. Better off charging it up in a PET bottle and using it for a swap. Anyway, the cold has let up enough to ship fluid without freezing solid, so its on its way today...

Re: BABBLE Brew Off 2007
Woops! We have a name collision. I've been posting as DanM for a couple months (granted, infrequently) and never noticed another DanM on the board. We'll have to figure out a fair way to disambiguate. =')

No problem, I'll switch to WitSok. It is what I use on most forums anyways.

Just to be clear then, DanM is the BABBLEBrew guy and WitSok is not? I hope Bruce got my entries before they became beersicles.

Re: BABBLE Brew Off 2007
You really ran that with exceptional efficency. Results posted in 2 days and received in the mail in well under a week, most don't accomplish that. I wish I had some better stuff on hand to send, but regardless I'd be delighted to keep supporting events like yours in the future, I think your above the curve.
