Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
I've really trimmed travel this year, got a family thing that's got me minimizing plans. But the NHC is only like a long weekend, and I have little in the way of vacation lined up. So I'm kicking it around.

I was going to hit the thing when it was in Baltimore, but I saw the seminar line up and was very underwhelmed. Much later I learned that the published schedule bares little resemblance to the actual event, the stuff I thought it was sorely missing was, in reality, not missing! Doh!

It would be easier to decide what to do here if I had some idea of who else would be around. The BBB has sort of spoiled me, I'm not used to being an individual when I go to this kind of thing! So what might I expect in the way of familiar faces (or at least names!!)?

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
I am leaning towards attending this year. I am going to try and convince (I don't think they need much convincing though) Cisco and the other three member of our little group to attend as well.

It would certainly be cool to meet you Steve and we could actually have a beer in person (though the chats are quite fun).

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
Maybe I could pose as the sixth Los Cebadartistas for the weekend! Great to know, it would be terrific to meet you guys. Definately sweetens the pot.

I'm definitely considering going and yes we could probably make Steve an honory member for a short weekend.

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
I had a great time when it was in Chicago a couple of years back. This year I'm in Salt Lake City at a conference the week of the NHC.

Dan and I will be there in June (along with 8 or so of the Austin ZEALOTS). Hope to see you there Steve!

I'm thinking of going but haven't finalized any plans yet. However, the possibility looks real good.

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
I'll be there, since we're the host town! My homebrew club, Foam on the Range, will have a booth for Club Night and will be providing numerous kegs of beer for the Hospitality Suite. Hope to see you guys here, and I'd be happy to answer any questions about things to do, etc.

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
I will be there, of course. I am on the planning committee and in charge of the commemorative beers for the conference.

I may also be leading a bicycle pub crawl tour on Saturday afternoon.

Just out of curiosty, where's everyone from out of town going to get bikes Scott? Sounds like fun.

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
I am setting up a deal with a local bike dealer to rent them. I don't have the costs yet but I plan to have the dealer drop them off and pick them up after we are done.

This depends on there being enough interest.

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
OK then, I'm in. The wife got a fare watch for a flight to Denver for under $300. Nice. So I just booked my room. This time I promise not to dump it when the seminar schedule is published, I'll go it on faith! Next month I'll do the actual pre-reg (to put a month between the bills), but I'll be there.

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
I arrive at the airport in Denver at 11am because I want to be there for the opening toast. We need a way of being able to find all of us at the conference. I'll be wearing my club shirt with Los Cebadartistas embroidered on the back.

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
Ross, I land at 2:05. Anyone else getting in around that time? Maybe we can share a cab or something.

Cisco, I agree we definately need a contact point. I think the hotel would be a good choice, I'll make a secure page a few days prior. Everyone who wants to meet up can give me their cell #, I put that on the page and give anyone who's offered their cell # the username and password.

I didn't see an agenda on www.beertown.org/events/hbc/index.html, what time is the opening toast?

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
Oh well, that's pretty early to make from the east coast. But wow, I hope the actual toast doesn't take 30 minutes! "Here's to...", 30 minutes later you drink!

Re: Is anyone thinking about the NHC?
It's actually 30 minutes of drinking to get everyone in the right frame of mind for the next 3 days. Don't want that buzz to wear off!!!!!

Hey, I just added a pop up sign up box for this. Take a look on the right column, there's also a link to it in the announcement box on the homeBBBrewBoard page. If you're going please add yourself to the list.

Opening toast
Not sure where you are getting this from, but the Opening Toast is on THURSDAY, not Wednesday. Wednesday is beer tour day. The conference offically starts on Thursday.

Anyway, I will have Thursday and Friday off and will be up for anything Wednesday night.

Steve;

I've actually rented a car so if you or anyone else on the board, family or whoever needs transportation I'd be glad to give you a lift.

Uh oh Ross, I predict you being a popular guy ... ROAD TRIP!! Actually maybe we can swap cell numbers and I can catch a ride with you to the hotel. Saving the cab fare seems worth hanging around for 45 minutes. Can you email me your contact # and flight info? steve@cmg.net
