Cost of Malt and Hops Increasing
What are people paying for an oz of hops (fresh or pellet) and grains (bulk 55 lbs sack (25 kilo.) or by the pound, two row or six)? Curious as to how much the prices have gone up for us small scale brewers.

Happy....or not as happy...

Re: Cost of Malt and Hops Increasing
I bought several pounds of organic hops recently and the prices had only gone up a few bucks a lb. to $18-22 (best I've seen, and still able to order high quantities). Premium hop plugs at the LHBS went from 4.95 to 8.95...didn't seem like they raised prices for pellets but can only get 1 oz per lb. of L/DME or 2 lb's of grain

Hops are up around 1.5-2x over last season. 55lb sack of grain seems to be up $5-10.

Just ckecked out Freshops....One of the the few places you can still order a lb or more of a single variety.....expensive to order in larger quantities, but worth it for the hard to find varities...just bought a lb. each of amarillo, summit (high alpha dwarf), and sorachi ace (new japanese variety). Expensive maybe, but I'm really excited to use the summits and sorachis...

Re: Cost of Malt and Hops Increasing
I can find good deals for bulk prices on grain mail order, the problem is the shipping makes it very expensive. So still better to purchase local. I also bought 42 oz from freshhops. Still a good price. My local was restricted in his amounts from them. His prices are now 4.95 for 2 oz. I paid 2.40 for same.

Wow, I just checked morebeer's website and they are out of 80% of thier hops. They are also out of a lot of other stuff (no Ranco temp controllers, thermo-wells, etc).

Re: Cost of Malt and Hops Increasing
Not sure what mi LHBS charges for an oz. of whole hops, they only have a few varieties in that form, I usually get pellets for $1, more or less from there...before the shortage hit I got a lb. of styrian goldings pellets for like 12 bucks, so paying 30 bucks a lb. for hops (including shipping) is a bit of a price shock for me.
