Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Re-using Brett from secondary in primary?
So...I've got this old ale in secondary. It's been there for 3 or 4 months sitting on WL Brett. Lambicus. I am about to keg this beer up and I had the thought of harvesting the yeast from secondary so that I could start building up a starter to us it for a primary ferment. Does this sound like a bad idea? The old ale is around 9% abv by now. I know that, if this was s. cerevisiae, pulling yeast from secondary with that kind of alcohol would not be a good thing to do. But what about brett??

Thanks,

Scott (R)

I have reused brett CL multiple times repitching with no ill effects. I just make a starter with some of the old brett and step it up again to be sure it is healthy.
