Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Re: Berliner Swap
I've only got 2 6-packs left of the initial batch and am only willing to part with 3 bottles... an indicator of how good it was.

It's not a Wyeast Berliner-blend beer, but rather a Brett C beer dosed with some chardonnay juice. If folks are interested, I'd be in with 3 bottles.

Re: Berliner Swap
So CDH, Sean White, Tremens, myself and possibly tankdeer. That's the line up?

Re: Berliner Swap
Ummmm.... I may be down.... I'm gonna put up a post about an Al saison blend swap and if there's enough interest I may swing that way. I don't really have the extra cash right now to be doing multiple swaps...

Re: Berliner Swap
I only have 22's at the moment, and not many of them, but if the group stays small I'd be interested.

Re: Berliner Swap
Actually 22s are kind of big for a swap.

Re: Berliner Swap
I tasted mine the other day, twas pretty good. I too don't have a lot of cash right now, but can probably pull something together if the size is reasonable, which it looks like it will be.

Re: Berliner Swap
I think I have mainly big bottles too, but whatever. Invite a friend to sit in on the swap tasting with you!

Re: Berliner Swap
Why on Earth discourage someone that is generous and wants to send 22's ??

Re: Berliner Swap
Well, a swap isn't like just having a casual beer, they can easily be 5 beers. That's a lot for a weeknight, if one is a 22 then its effectively 6 beers. Personally I think the optimum size for a swap are those little Anchor Foghorn bottles. It may seem like you're being stingy, but really when there is a weeknight line up I find I am grateful for them. Its not a reflection of how you like the beer, its just at some point when you have to go to work the next day big bottles seem daunting.

In the case of Berliner its not that its too much alcohol, though that's still plenty for a weeknight for me. Its more the case of acid on the stomach. A bunch of Berliners can make it a long night.

Re: Berliner Swap
Shall we discuss a date? I'm down for whenever, I can send as soon as we have it lined up.

Re: Berliner Swap
I have the names recorded, looks like we are 5. First I need full contact info for Sean and tankdeer. I have email and shipping info already for Tremens and CDH (they've swapped before). When I have that I'll start the process of selecting a date...

Sounds great! I'm glad this is going to happen. Mine is kegged, so I'll bottle it just before I send it.

well for those of you who are not afraid of a 22, I know that mtc just won best in show in Texas with his Berliner.

Sorry tank...

Mines kegged too, I'll bottle for the event. I'll keep my bottle small and you'll be grateful ... but for a very different reason!! The beer is OK, real far from my best effort though.

Ryan, the hesitation is not cause I'm a trembling wuss. I probably have 2 dozen of these events behind me, all very sucessful. You start to get a good feel for what works.

Re: Berliner Swap
I think Ryan is just being a good friend and I appreciate his support. I also respect SteveG's experience in these matters. No big deal, though. I'm sure there will be other swaps. It's only beer. I think it was Rodney King who said.......

Re: Berliner Swap
There will be. Last fall I had an aweful accident that has left me partially crippled in my important arm. Then in January I took over as president of an area observatory. Between the new physical challenge obstructing brewing and the responsibilty of keeping a public scientific organization running I have had little time for the board and associated activities.

But I've gotten a little stronger, in fact last Saturday I actually stocked up on grain again. Al is making me a BC slurry the size of which has not been seen on Earth since the Cretaceous (when yeast cells were the size of golf balls) and I'll be back in the saddle in a couple weeks. So 2008 has not been a big year for swaps. The observatory is still pretty demanding, but with 1.75 arms (as opposed to 1.25 arms a few months ago) I can look at being a brewer again. So yeah, there will be other swaps.

I guess the only thing I care about is at the end where we were talking about my job and whatnot. ; )

Otherwise, I'm all for sharing the wealth.

My thought was to nip out the chitchat at the beginning and end... the middle is pretty solid.
