US sized, capable belgian style 750's
I was recently given a bottle of the new CL Smoke from the Oak Wine Barrel edition by a co-worker. A delicious beer indeed (have you tried one yet Stever or Al?). But, I also found it very interesting that it comes packaged in a strait-sided belgian style 750, with nothing but a standard US sized cap on top. These are cool bottles. I've never seen these before, for home use or commercial. I would love to get my hands on a case or two for my belgians/sours. Does anyone know if these are available anywhere to homebrewers?

I live in the area so I remember him talking about this. Scott ran out of last year's bottles and couldn't get any more. The capable bottles are new this year. You could probably email him through the CL sight to find out his source.

If I'm thinking of the right bottles; Jolly Pumpkin recently started bottling in these bottles too. And I know I wouldn't object to drinking a case or two of JP beers. :)

I have a bunch of these. All from Jolly Pumpkin or Leelanau Brewing Co which is also brewed by Ron Jeffries of JP. Definitely cool bottles. If I would have saved every bottle of JP I ever drank I'd be set for life.

Dogfish Head also uses them for 750ml bottles. I haven't seen them available for sale empty...

Re: US sized, capable belgian style 750's
Did dogfish JUST start using them? They've always used the brown champagnes....and JP as well, I haven't seen any of the new bottles yet, or did I?

But, I have already heard back from Scott at CL. He got them by the palate at United Bottles in Montreal, and said to just look them up online but it's most likely only bulk. We're gonna start hand bottling a couple barrels at time at Dock Street soon and hopefully we can order a palate of those and I can buy some for home....

Re: US sized, capable belgian style 750's
I decided to just e-mail the place that makes the bottles, and they said Crosby and Baker is their distributor for homebrew stores in the U.S. He said to just have my local homebrew store order them from C & B and they should be able to get them, and if not to contact C&B oneself and and ask where they are available in ones area.

Question answered!

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the brown champagne's. So these are basically cappable Chimay type 750s?? Wacky.
