Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Congratulations to Ted Johnston...
Just saw you got BOS gold in the BUZZ comp... congrats, man! It's a good thing, I'm tired of seeing a damn light lager taking the top title in all the local comps!

BPotts, where did you find the results for that comp? I keep checking the website but I haven't found them. Are they posted somewhere else?

Re: Congratulations to Ted Johnston...
There was an announcement on the AHA email forum. I think the link is on the BUZZ homepage.

Re: Congratulations to Ted Johnston...
Way to go Ted! Light lagers typically take the top in a Philly area comp?

Re: Congratulations to Ted Johnston...
Yup....this one guy enters them in every competition, he's in my homebrew club, he always takes the category, and more often than not takes BOS (if not first than second, or third). By all means I commend Dave for his consistency and ability to make classic lagers, but....

Re: Congratulations to Ted Johnston...
I shouldn't say "more often than not", but he's won a bunch of BOS's with them.

Oh, I was actually looking for the B.U.Z.Z. Boneyard Brew-Off results. That comp was this last weekend as well.

A little more interesting, a Vienna :). He did pretty damn well, I think he got another first for the swap bitter and a barleywine.

I guess i'll have to enter the upcoming comp, Malt Madness, and attempt to defend my title!

Nice Ted, tough beer to take the big prize with. A Vienna is a pretty unforgiving brew.

Re: Congratulations to Ted Johnston...
Thanks guys, the BOS win a bit of a surprise, only took 15 years to get it. I got a third with the flemish red that I had in the red swap and the sugar swap bitter with the soft blonde took a first as best bitter. Also got a first for my 04 english barleywine, which was the recipe for the bourbon barrel BW that we did as a club in 06. Chris enter that one for the club and it took first also.

I generally do a lager or two each year, but this was my first try at the Vienna style. Of course my lager frig died last winter, so its time to get a new frig for the kitchen; and a new oven and dish washer. Don't understand it, we just remodelled the kitchen 20 years ago.
