Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
I'm down...I may have missed out on the berliner swap but it will qualify for this one as well! I'm happy with it, took first for sours in the last competition I entered...

Just have to make sure I have enough bottles

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
danger, 6 is a nice number.

General note, an all brett beer can certainly be sour, but I want to mention that sour is not a specific objective. All brett beers can be different from anything else you've ever tasted, so if there is a singular objective (besides using all brett) it be that the beer is unique (in a good way of course!)

I'll also mention I'm pretty sure I'll be able to involve a well known brewing professional in this one.

Going away for a week, I'll check back a week from Monday.

My berliner was primaried with brett b & c but then soured with fantome dregs....does that qualify or no?

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
I have one, This brett beer that I did is two types of brett and some Lacto to up the sourness. Of all the Brett beers I have done, I like this one the best.

I might be up for another one of these.

I've got a pretty good Flanders that might be able to keep up.

I'd be down. I have a 100% brettC ale that would qualify.

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
Depending on when this all goes down, I may want to get in on this as well. I have a dark strong of sorts (~11%) that was fermented entirely with brettC. It isn't bottled yet, however. I do think I could bottle some up as it has been sitting for ~6 months in secondary.

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
If there's room, I'm in.

I have an all Brett beer that I made using a variation of MikeT's grain bill for Mo betta Bretta.

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
OK, I'm back. Was away on vacation 2 weeks ago. Last week I was preparing for a lecture I gave Saturday and was also finishing up a half hour astronomy video. This week I'm preparing the entryway of the house to freak out trick or treaters, but that affords me some breathing room.

So we are at 9. I think we could handle one more, with that we will break the event into two groups. I'm going to shoot an email off to someone who be a special guest, if I can get that to work then it will come down to requiring 56 bottles be shipped out by everyone. 4 to the others in your group of 5 and one to the guest.

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
If there aren't any other takers for the tenth spot I could also send along my barleywine fermented with the same brett c & b culture as my other beer....but I would have to bottle that up.

Before going to a second beer I wanted to extend an invite a more of the folks who were in the first one. Too soon for a timeframe...

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
John - only willingness and a few bucks to ship boxes. Still waiting to hear from New Belgium. If everyone who responded is still in then this swap is closed.

No prob, Steve, just put it out there cause no one else had posted since the intitial responses. The more diversity the better for sure.

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
So far nothing from New Belgium, if there is still nothing by the beginning of next week I'll proceed regardless. But either way there are some things I'll need, may as well start now.

BPotts, Cuda, N8, Scott R and Ryan, we are all set for contact info.

danger, petec, OldTree and john, I'll need email and shipping addresses for you. This would be the address where you want packages to arrive. You can use the CONTACT US link in the main menu, those go to me.

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
John, look a couple posts up to my previous post. Yes, you are in and with you the swap is closed. No need to send anyone money, you'll just be sending beer. I need your contact info, please see my last post for instructions.

My hosts spam filter must have been on vacation yesterday, I came in to 324 mostly spam emails. Usually its like 20. I did a lot of deleting of course, I saw something from petec and danger and have that info. I did not see anything from OldTree or john, I hope I did not delete emails from you in the flurry. Contact info is critical for participation.

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
Well, its been a week and nothing from Peter Bouckaert. Disappointing, at the 06' NHC he was enthusiastic about it, when I asked if he'd like to be involved he said he'd like to involve his entire staff. But the email I shot off to NB seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

Before I pull the plug on pro involvement I'd like to try again, I just sent an invite off to Allagash to ask if Rob Tod would like to participate. Give it to the end of the week. Vinnie Cilurzo has also spoken well of these efforts when addressing the NHC. I'm also going to give him a shout. If all this fails then we'll proceed on our own. The event does not require pro involvement to kick off, but it is a nice bonus if you can swing it...

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
Well, Scott barrel ages which will inevitably lead to a brett presence, but to my knowledge he has not worked with brett as an innoculated fermenter. I think if we have a pro guest it needs to be someone very versed in what we are doing.

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
Gentlemen,

I regret to say that I have to drop out of this one. I apologize for the late notice and hope that someone else has a qualifying beer to take my spot.

This last weekend, I took some samples of my beer with the intent of bottling.

Well...it is certainly not ready yet. There are some flavors in there that are less than enjoyable and I'm gonna have to let this one sit for perhaps another 6 months to a year before it might be ready.

Again, I am sorry and I hope the swap goes well!

Scott

Re: Anyone interested in all-brett swap II
Steve -

1) I have Mike Mraz's brew for you on this swap

2) I just brewed a 100% brett Grand Cru this past weekend, I can fill the spot if the timing is a couple months away.
