Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Man, the last Barley Wine swap was ages ago...
Wasn't it? If I had to rate all the swaps I've been in I think I'd have to put that one on top. It was the swap where I learned that if there was one style of beer where ametures can soar past pro breweries its barley wine. The first night was great, the second was like tasting barley wine for the first time.

OK then, tough act to follow. Anyone up for trying? I got a real neat one.

If it is not limited to Belgian-style, I have a nice American Barley Wine that was aged on oak. After a year it is really coming into its own.

I generally try to avoid stylings for swaps, I prefer more generalized guidelines. If by "Belgian-style" you mean something like a Westy12 clone, that would be OK for this. By and large I just mean good ole barley wine, however you define that. Yours sounds perfect.

Worth mentioning, the point where you break it into a 2 night event comes faster with this one. If there are 6 of us, well, 6 barley wines on a work night can be pretty punishing the next day.

What are you guys doing online at midnight and 2 a.m. respectively?

It sounds like neither of you was drinking barleywine.

:)

I fucked up, I went out to dinner and thought a decaf double espresso would be OK. Oops. But I actually was having a BW at the time, its what compelled me to suggest a swap.

I've got a pretty good one, too. I'd be interested in this.

I have a Rye Wine (30% Rye Barleywine) and I would like to be included in the swap if that will work.

Hey Steve,

If there's room - I've still got some of mine from 2001. Tasted recently - and aging well.

cheers, scamborn

OK, 5 is looking promising. I think one more would be ideal, assuming everyone has 12 oz bottles that could give us 2 sessions. Unless people like the idea of drinking 6 barley wines on a work night!

Are you guys still going through with this swap?

I have an oaked b-wine that is very young but tastes promising.

What's the proposed date or month at least?

If you guys need another just let me know. I would love to get in on this, by barley wine isn't normal and sadly kegged but I can beer-gun it.
