Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Belgian Bottle Storage
I just bottled my second batch of lambic and first time using corks. Now that the corks are in and cages on the bootles, is it best to store the bottles on their side to keep the cork moist or just leave them standing straight up.

What seems to be the best method?

I have always left my corked bottles standing.

I was going to store mine on their side but then I stopped and said to myself, "I know these are all going to be gone in a years time, what's the point?"

After bottling, I start off laying the bottle on its side to give the yeast more surface area in the bottle. But then after refermentation is finished, I store them upright and usually give the bottles a good shake to clear any yeast sediment on the sides.

I give the pLambics at least a year in the bottle prior to opening, and keep them on their sides for long-term storage.
