Wyeast 3739-PC Flanders Golden Ale
Hi all,

Has anyone used this VSS yeast and if so what were your results? I might use it with the 2009 NCH winning Belgian Specialty Ale recipe in the Sept/Oct Zymurgy.

Used it on a 1.084 SG, fermented from 66 to 70 and went to terminal, 1.012 in less than a week.

Great flavor so far, but very green a few weeks ago. I am bottling in the next few weeks and will fire off a better description then. I loved the fermentation profile though.

B-Dub,

Thanks for the info. That degree of attenuation in less than a week is impressive.

Below is the Bel Spec recipe. Mainly, I want to see what rye adds to the flavor profile (have never used it) and I also have Summit (also have never used)

SG 1.069

IBU (not listed)

58% Pils

33% Rye

9% Munich

.5oz Summit @ 90m

1oz Summit @ 30m

1oz Summit @ 5m

10z Amarillo dry

WLP570 (sub the Flanders)

mash 147F 90m

ferm 72F

I used 20% simple sugars. That doesn't hurt the low FG either.
