Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Has anyone harvested the yeast from a bottle of Grand Cru of the Emperor?

Sorry man, probably not or I'm sure they would have responded. You should try it! Tell us how it comes out.

Sorry, my only Emperor has been from draught. Awesome BTW.

Re: gouden carolus
First, a disclaimer - I have never attempted to culture yeast from any of the Het Anker beers.

But at ~11% ABV this beer is a tough environment to get viable yeast out of. I'm not aware that they use different strains for this vs. the regular GC . . .so if possible, why not get your critters from a bottle of 'garden variety' Gouden Carolus at 8.5%?

I have a sneaky suspicion that your question may stem from the fact that you have in your possession a bottle of the GCotE (or, I guess, "CvdK" in Flemish) . . . . which is in fact my personal favorite of their offerings (actually the only one I really care for enough to seek out) . . . and I would not dissuade you from giving it a shot. Have some backup yeast available, what's the worst that could happen?

Ya know, me too. NYC Gingerman I recall. WOW, perfect stuff.

Re: gouden carolus
It's one of my favorite beers so I gave it a shot with a bottle. Didn't work out but I don't have the best setup for it either. Gonna give it another shot after I get a stirplate. Might try one of the lower ABV Het Anker beers as suggested too if I can find one.
