Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Mikkellar Yeast Series: Brettanomyces
I just picked up a bottle of this. Anyone know any details about what strain they used, and can I culture it? Thanks.

It will be one of Dirk Naudts strains at De Proef... It's not pasteurized so you should be able to culture it. First off though.. is it any good?

Let me know if you use it. I picked up a bottle of the Mikkellar It's Alive and I'm going to try to use those dregs. I'm not sure if they are related or not.

Re: Mikkellar Yeast Series: Brettanomyces
You're in for a real treat. I had a tulip of it last week and just loved it. One of the funkier Brett beers I've had, actually. Huge blue cheese and musty earthiness in nose and taste. (Had heard similar reports about It's Alive, but every bottle I've had of that beer has been a little disappointing.) The malt bill they use for the yeast series is obviously a little on the sweet side, but with all the funk it makes for an interesting pairing. Will definitely look out for a bottle myself.

Re: Mikkellar Yeast Series: Brettanomyces
It's still sitting in my basement. I have a few bottles, now including this one, that I want to keep the bugs separate from my mixed bug jar. I'll probably open it and put the dregs with some wort in the next month or so.

Oh and I think I have a bottle of It's Alive also. Is that any good?
