Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Re: Kriek
Looking good, how long was your kriek going? I have 11gal of a rochefort-like beer in a barrel, I sonder if I shouldn't pull a sample?

Did the mahleb add a pronounced flavor?

Re: Kriek
Tom Sawyer...that was in the oak a full 6 months. There was a nice white pellicle. I don't know how to describe the mahleb. It really adds a pronounced floral/cinnamonish aroma very very pleasant...some of that gets thru to the taste buds and it is mingled with bitter almond notes. I bought it whole and ground it up with the malt mill. The person that turned me on to the spice did not crush it up and added it whole to his beer......I imagine that whole would be less intense....but nice. Anyhow this is a carnival for the ole taste buds! After taste from this beer lingers 20-3- mins or more.
