Welcome to the homeBBBrew board!
Like the BBB, the homeBBBrew board is not a club, just a place to talk about making beer. Is there a swap you would like to see happen? If we can find a few others who have something similar then lets do it!

Syrupy Yeast
This is my first time using a stir plate. I added the dregs of a bottle of 3Font Hommage to a bit of starter and put it on a stir plate for ~36hrs. I then returned it to the bottle, sealed it, and let it sit at cellar temp (60f) for a few weeks. I purged it of CO2 every day or two.

Tonight I poured some into a small cup and it has the consistency of syrup. Can having high yeast content create a consistency like this? The starter wort certainly wasn't this thick. This stuff literally pours like maple syrup.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Syrupy Yeast
sounds more like the pedio is making it ropey or sick. For what it's worth Hommage is pretty old now, so culturing from it will be pretty spotty, but sounds like you got something if it's giving off co2, probably some brett still living in there and most likely pediococcus.
